BENEDETTA MENNA
CONCEPT / SYNOPSIS OF THE WORK
The installation consists of a documentation video of a performative action and the tunic used to sew the words “here and elsewhere”. The work centers on the body: being made up of perspectives it cannot inhabit, it is someone else who sees and perceives me in ways that are closed off to me. We are always elsewhere, and at the same time here. Sewing these words is an affirmative gesture of testimony to the necessary nature of cohabitation: non-choice.
