Jianming Huang – ASSEMBLY LINE

JIANMING HUANG

CONCEPT / SYNOPSIS OF THE WORK

“ASSEMBLY LINE” is a video built around the screen of an X-ray device. Twenty-five Chinese students abroad submitted personal objects and traces of their daily experiences to X-rays. Stripped of their appearance, the objects reveal only structure and density. The work explores the intimacy between body and object and what escapes the logic of security, questioning what remains of us in an increasingly recorded and monetized society.
