CONCEPT / SYNOPSIS OF THE WORK
Everything, when touched, emits a sound. But what sound do the things we keep make when no one touches them? What voice do they have?
This project stems from here: lingering on all those things that, for each of us and in a thousand different ways, become traces of something intangible. The things that inhabit our homes, our drawers, and ultimately ourselves, thus become a tangible and almost unconscious mirror of who we are and where we come from.
Based on this premise, a series of interviews was conducted, inviting acquaintances and strangers alike to empty their “drawers” and talk about themselves through them. The resulting work is composed of two souls: that of the object, in its material presence, and that of the voice it holds. Two levels that, together, suggest how every object can become a vessel for a series of meanings that go far beyond its formal nature.
The question, then, remains one: do we inhabit things, or are things, in some way, inhabiting us?
