Alessandro Musumeci – Madonne della Seggiola

ALESSANDRO MUSUMECI

CONCEPT / SYNOPSIS OF THE WORK

Starting from an everyday space, through the use of laser engraving, the seating surfaces are superimposed onto the circular shape of the famous sacred tondos from Italian art history. This shift between support and image generates a tension between functional object and artwork to be contemplated, between utility and aesthetic aura. The use of stools implies a direct and inevitable contact with the sacred image, producing a short circuit between daily gesture and symbolic stratification.
