CONCEPT / SYNOPSIS OF THE WORK
Published in 1962 by Edizioni Sansoni Sadea Florence, Tuttitalia consists of 25 volumes. Each region is analyzed and written by local authors who detailed the geological, historical, and cultural aspects, popular traditions, and livelihoods of 1960s Italy, imagining planning hypotheses and potential employment transformations applicable to the territory. The following volumes are displayed vertically, one next to the other and worn down along the top edge, creating a single, imaginary geological profile across the entire nation. Just as the morphological structure of Italy that forms the Italian regions is subjected to continuous shaping—metaphorically from a social, cultural, and political perspective—the individual regions are likewise subject to the same mechanism of erosion and metamorphosis. Flipping through the pages of each individual, now compromised volume means telling the stories of a transformed place, of what still resists the passage of time, and of what has been irrecoverably lost forever.
