Valeria Vertolli – Luci Mancanti

In January 2017, the earthquake destroyed 80% of Campotosto (AQ), extinguishing the lights of many homes and pushing many to leave. “Luci Mancanti” (Missing Lights) stems from the desire to fill this absence. I took a window frame, framed it with light, and walked through the alleys of my town, seeking to illuminate once again those openings left in the dark. A performative gesture to reactivate the memory of those places and restore presence, warmth, and life where trauma had left only silence.
